“…The Ascetic Junkies are one of the first bands to reinterpret bluegrass, a genre known for complacency, into something new and totally exciting. On the band’s sophomore album, The Cage Has No Bottom, the Junkies use genres like a game of four square, jumping from more traditional bluegrass to straight pop and more experimental flair, sometimes in the middle of the same song. The effect is initially a bit disorienting—imagine spending an afternoon in a museum after drinking a few too many glasses of red wine—but it creates some arresting pop moments.” -MICHAEL MANNHEIMER, WILLAMETTE WEEK
The Ascetic Junkies will be performing at Snob Theater | Bridgetown Comedy Festival at the Hawthorne Theater on Thursday, April 21st with comedians Chris Thayer, Moshe Kasher, Emily Heller, Ron Funches, and Brent Weinbach and fellow musical guests Chervona.

"When I reluctantly performed on it a few months ago, I quickly realized the "Snobs" know what they're doing. I don't know how they know, but the show --- and the flow of show between musicians and comedians -- is Tony the Tiger quality grrrrrrrrrrrreat! It doesn't really matter who's on the show, it's just a cool mix. The whole is greater than the sum of it's blah blah blah. You get it. It's like Voltron."

"The Snob Theater showcase at The Hawthorne Theater (at Bridgetown Comedy Festival 2011 in Portland, OR) was pretty solid gold." - Alison Hallett, Portland Mercury
"Since the series started earlier this year, Snob Theater has featured darlings of the local music scene alongside equally feted local comedians."

"Snob Theater is genius. It's a beautiful and truly awesome fusion of great comedy and great local music. I came out for Snob Theater a little while back and was beyond impressed. It was such a fun concept and housed in the Dark Room - it's got a ton of character."
